How we choose products

Our recommendations about pottery wheels, kilns and pottery tools for home studios come from structured research, not from hands-on testing in a lab. Here is exactly how a guide is built.

1. Start from the buyer's question

We look at what people actually search for and ask, then define the criteria that matter most for that decision (size, capacity, materials, safety, warranty and so on).

2. Verify the specifications

We check every specification we publish against the manufacturer's own product pages, manuals or spec sheets. When sources disagree, we say so. When a maker doesn't publish a figure, we leave it out rather than guess.

3. Read owner feedback for patterns

We look for recurring praise and complaints across many owners: reliability, setup, noise, durability and customer support. One bad review is noise; the same issue reported again and again is a signal.

4. Follow official guidance on safety

Where safety matters, we follow official and expert sources and name them in the article.

5. Keep it current

Products change and get discontinued. We revisit guides regularly and update them when models, specifications or availability change.

What we never do

  • Accept payment to include or rank a product.
  • Invent specifications, test results or ratings.
  • Publish prices that will go stale; check the retailer for the current price.
